Merigar East is on the coast of the Black Sea in Romania, near the village of 23rd August on the road between Constanta and Mangalia.
“Here is just Sky and Earth”, said Chögyal Namkhai Norbu when he saw the place for the first time on the occasion of the 2007 summer retreat. Nearly 500 participants came from all over the world to Merigar East on that occasion. Since then there has been a big summer retreat with Chögyal Namkhai Norbu at Merigar East each year. In addition to Rinpoche’s teaching, the 2009 summer schedule included the Santi Maha Sangha base exam and Santi Maha Sangha 1st Level Training.
Merigar East is situated on 4.5 hectares of land, where according to the vision of Yeshi Namkhai (Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s son) we will build an octagonal Gonpa with three mandalas, two stupas in classical style, a garden and roads – all in the shape of the Longsal symbol.
